What is Your Mission?
Can you define "what you are trying to do or accomplish?" If not, figure it out now! If you are in an existent organization, you should have a current "mission statement." If you don't, get one. If you are a new organization, establish one.
Establishing "what your mission is" is EVERYTHING! If you don't know why you are "setting sail," all is lost, because you are headed nowhere. If you are a newly hired CEO, Executive Director, or you are founding a new organization, you obviously have a passion to try and accomplish something. Define what it is, get focused, and get moving!
I had an incredible mentor that taught me something very simple, but powerful. He said, "Do you want to ALWAYS be employed? Then find a need and fill it!" Powerful. In accessing what your organization is wanting to accomplish, is it something that people need? Is it something people can understand the need for? If it is, then keep moving!
As you read on, I can pretty much tell you that you are probably "called" to do something special and unique. You are passionate about something that needs to be done. In some cases, you may feel the urge from deep within that says, "This is not just something I need to do or want to do. This is something I HAVE TO DO!"
Now, we're getting somewhere, aren't we? If you are soaking in the words that I share right now, you have a deep-felt passion. I don't know what it is, but to YOU, it is obviously meaningful. Press on! Right it down! Define it! You are at the most important part of what you HAVE TO accomplish. YOU can do it! And if you learn how to properly communicate your mission, others will stand with you as volunteers and donors. Be encouraged! Let people know...HELP is on the way!!!
